What you'll see in L&I
- Authority status — Active, Pending, Revoked, or Not Authorized — for property, passenger, household goods, and broker.
- Insurance on file — BIPD ($750K–$5M depending on commodity), cargo ($5K min for HHG), bond/trust.
- BOC-3 — designated process agents in every state where the carrier operates.
- Insurance history — every cancellation, reinstatement, and effective-date change.
- Pending applications — new authorities, name changes, reinstatements in process.
Why authority status matters
Brokering or hauling for a carrier without active authority can void your cargo claim, trigger FMCSA penalties, and put your own authority at risk. Verify before every new shipper or carrier relationship.
