MVR (Motor Vehicle Record)
An MVR is the state-issued driving record showing violations, accidents, license status, and endorsements for a CDL driver.
Carriers must obtain an MVR from every state in which a driver held a license over the past 3 years before hiring, then run a new MVR annually for every CDL driver on the roster.
MVRs surface things PSP doesn't — non-CMV violations in a personal vehicle, license suspensions, expired endorsements. Most carriers use a service like Foley, HireRight, or DAC to consolidate multi-state MVR pulls.
Storage: MVRs go in the DQF and must be retained for the driver's employment plus 3 years.
